Have a Netflix movie you want us to review? Tell us about it! We’ll watch most (if not all) of it and give you our verdict: Netfleek or Netweak
Mole: Fact: Kevin James is a gifted physical comedian. Fact: Adam Sandler is a sentimentalist whose immense popularity is as difficult to fathom as a certain Republican party front runner. So…. here we have Paul Blart: Mall Cop. The only time I ugly laughed was when Kevin James cut loose from the leaden script and dazzled us with his deft physicality. The rest of the time, I sat stone faced, wondering how 13 minutes left could seem like an eternity. The script, which James co-wrote but Sandler’s Happy Madison company produced, is heavy on sentiment and pubescent fantasy: (The acrobatic villains ride BMX bikes in a mall).
Ratty: I’m sick to death of bad guys being good at parkour. Parkour…istas aren’t modern day ninjas, they’re showoffy gymnasts who don’t have an off switch. You know what’s a lot more effective than being able to jump impressively? A gun. Cheaper too. If I was putting together a crew I’d just get some regular guys and give them guns. Or I’d just tape a gun to a drone.
Anyway, I laughed at this movie. More than once. Don’t YOU judge me!
